Newbie!!!! With a scooby prob

Hey all just popping in to say hi and pay some homage to other fellow enthusiasts hope everyone is well.
I'm now proud owner of a 99 T rb5 however it seems to struggle to idle properly the chap I've had her off has been straight with me and mentioned that the idle control valve is faulty and he had put 1 on but that 1 was also faulty( however it was same shape and size but a different part number to the orig 1 fitted) I am aware these can sometimes clog or stick will cleaning it help or just better to replace first as last ? Any advise appreciated regards
Mad rb5 owner

Re: Newbie!!!! With a scooby prob

maybe try cleaning the original one that was fitted, also if it has the rubber gasket then replace it, these can cause issues.

ah right, possibly it could be the maf, that spec mullered 3 mafs on my classic (99 uk car so pretty much the same) before it was even mapped. best bet drive it as little as possible till you can get it looked at by a specialist, if it is the maf it can take the engine out if you drive it.

Re: Newbie!!!! With a scooby prob

did you replace the gasket on the IACV ?
Are you sure you have no air leaks ?
when you say it was ok for a bit was it "on choke" so to speak,
Does it now hunt all the time ?
