Another wheel and tyre question.......

I have 2001 STI Pro Drive bug eye with Bembro brakes

It has 235/35/19 tyres and 19" wheels

I'd like to go down a size and fit a bigger tyre

I've been told 17" won't fit due to the upgraded brakes so I believe 18" is my only option. Can I go with 235/45/18 ?or is there a better alternative

Re: Another wheel and tyre question.......

As the JDM STI came with 17`s as standard im sure you can fit smaller wheels lol

I admit your rather limited if you wanted to use 17`s(which are the best for handling)
But if you went 18`s there are loads more options,
I have a few sets of sti 17`s with various tyres on and prefer these as you get less tram lining, and the tyre has a little more give so is forgiving on our crappy roads.

I saw a bug eye today with 17"

I'm really after the gold wheels with the widest and biggest profile that will fit

With the 19" the handling is defo compromised, mines bounces about all over the place

If I can get 17" to fit over the Bembro brakes, what tyre size should I be going for

Cheers for the info btw

Re: Another wheel and tyre question.......

I only run 225`s on my 17`s but some do run 235`s.

Yeah, you wont have any rubbing or issues with a full car,
Team dynamics Pro Race 1.2 certainly fit in 17`s,
Or find a good set sti wheels for ragging it on, then keep your 19`s for the shows and posing.
