any tyre geeks know the difference please?

Afternoon all.

Just wondered if any tyre experts out there know the difference between these....

Continental Tyres / Car / Continental ContiSportContact 5 Continental Conti Sport Contact 5 - 225/40 R18 92Y XL FR TL Fuel Eff.: E Wet Grip: A NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 72dB &pound97.90 Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres - 18" R18" - 225/40/18,

And

Continental Tyres / Car / Continental ContiSportContact 5 Continental Conti Sport Contact 5 - 225/40 R18 92Y XL (MO) FR TL Fuel Eff.: C Wet Grip: B NoiseClass: 2 Noise: 72dB &pound97.90 Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres - 18" R18" - 225/40

Now the only differences I see, apart from the second one being sold as Mercedes, is that the fuel efficiency is better rated on the latter, but wet grips better rated on the former.
The load rating, speed rating, side wall protector, even the price are both the same.

So what is the difference? If I was to buy based on ratings it would be the Mercedes ones with the better efficiency.
But slightly less wet grip.

Does that mean the compound is softer on the non Mercedes one? Or the sidewalls are stiffer on the Mercedes one?

Any help would be much appreciated everyone.

the 2nd will be eco shite rubber, that will be why the first one has better wet grip and the 2nd has better fuel economy,
think of the tyres on the BRZ they will be like the 2nd ones.

I got a definite answer from continental themselves...on a Sunday night too! Efficient.
And yeah bob you're right... The Mercedes ones are made from a less sticky compound....and apparently are made in China.
