Re: mobile mechanic

there ia a way of checking them with the normal multi meter both crank and the cam sensors on 99% of cars normally should read from 200 to 500 ohms if its got 2 pins its ground and signal take the cam sensor of the engine put the multi meter probes on the 2 sensor pins see what it reads if it reads between 200-500 sensor is ok put 2 speaker wires on to the cam sensor pins so they are secure and put it back in the engine connect the other end of the speaker wires on the multi meter probes set the multi meter to ac volts crank the engine your multi meter should read minimum 0.2 to 2.0 ac volts cranking the engine it has to reach minimum 2 volts to start. hope that helps.

Re: mobile mechanic

what year is the car if its 97 and over it might be worth getting a cheap code reader of EBAY plug it in to the 16 pin OBD2 port under the steering. it will give you a fault code if its a very cheap code reader it might not give you the meaning of the code you can post it on this thread and i will tell you what it means or look it up on Google.

its a 1998 s plate i have tried the self diagnostics using the 2 black plugs and the engine light just gave a steady flash which i presume is all ok.

Re: mobile mechanic

Starter switch does more than just the starter motor but it's a bit over my head if I'm honest
