Re: how do i remove the two sump pan bolts on 94wrx
There are normally 3 bolts all together 2 on the tube one on the tube mount after you take the bolts of its still gona be a right pain to take the pickup tube out.
Where the 2 bolts go on the main pickup tube the tube is still half an inch in the block. I normally have the engine out to take the tube out you won’t be able to tape it out if you try to pull it or hit it hard enough it’s very easy to crack it. You said you took 4 bolts of the engine mounts did you take the bolts of from the top on the block? If yes it would have been easy to take them off from the bottom one on each side on the cross member the bottom part of the mounts. You need an engine hoist to lift the engine up all so take the gear box mount off the top and anything else which will put a strain on the engine lifting it up you don’t want to damage other things which are to close from the body to the engine. Once you lifted it high enough you should be able to work your way around the pickup tube. Put a bit of sealant around the block and the sump and then put the gasket around and don’t over tighten the bolts going in to the sump otherwise it will just start leaking strait away after you start it. I normally hold the engine up take the steering Colum off and drop the cross member as well to take the sump totally off. But please Note don’t attempt this unless you have the right tools like an engine hoist. Good luck FROM WORKS THE REAL DEAL. |
