Exclamation Quick couple of questions.............

Hey folks,

Quick couple of questions.............

1 - replaced my broken VF28 with a VF34 last Saturday. Will my car need remapped to get the benifits of the better unit?? Car in question is a V5 WRX STi Type R.

2 - Replaced the turbo oil return pipe with a modified Samco I had spare. Same OD and ID as original. I know your not supposed to use these hoses for oil, but since the return is essentially a low pressure oil drain will this last??

Thank you, thank you.

Re: Quick couple of questions.............

1. needs remapping full stop, change in the turbo is a major change, especialy a big jump in turbo like that, afr and ignition will prob be out, drive it as little as possible and keep it below 2500 sorpm turbo doesn;t come in.

2. not sure how the hoses react to oilm pressure might not be the issue as to why they are not sued. best advice is change it asap or check with samco themselves.

Re: Quick couple of questions.............

Thanks Tidgy.

Yeah the Type R is the weekend machine so it doesnt see much action really so keeping revs low is no problem. Actually got her booked into Andy Forest 23rd April so all good. I just gave it a little thrash after replacing the coolant, hoses, turbo etc was changed, wanted to make sure everything was running fine under loads.

As per the improvised hose, yeah I will check its progress. MOT is in 2 months so ill order up a new OEM part to replace when I am in there changing CAT back in for test.

So you reckon the VF34 and mapping would return some good power gains?? Modifications so far are de-cat, VF34, Samco turbo intake pipe, and uprated Walbro fuel pump. Only looking to go to 325-335bhp max. Do not want to compromise the reliability.

mine ran 340bhp on a vf34, uk car though. only issue i had was oil temps getting high, had to fit an oil cooler. Have you got gauges in the car?

also what other supporting mods have you got?
