Starting Issues ?

hi can anyone help please i have a classic shape, impreza turbo 2lt 97 plate been stood, now wont start, fuel is getting through but appears to have no spark, we've put a new coil pack on, new oil and fuel, and checked fuses. we changed the ignition power transistor on someones advice and car started straight away, but then stopped and would't start again. tested the plugs after and no spark, so appears to have blown the transistor??? anyone got any ideas why????

cam or crank sensor, may be worth whipping them out and cleaning them up if its been stood.

Re: Starting Issues ?

Agree with bob check the cam or crank sensor or at least disconnect the plugs so the voltage drains out of them and reconnect them.

there ia a way of checking them with the normal multi meter both crank and the cam sensors on 99% of cars normally should read from 200 to 500 ohms if its got 2 pins its ground and signal take the cam sensor of the engine put the multi meter probes on the 2 sensor pins see what it reads if it reads between 200-500 sensor is ok put 2 speaker wires on to the cam sensor pins so they are secure and put it back in the engine connect the other end of the speaker wires on the multi meter probes set the multi meter to ac volts crank the engine your multi meter should read minimum 0.2 to 2.0 ac volts cranking the engine it has to reach minimum 2 volts to start. hope that helps.
