Classic Scooby Clutch?

Hi this is my first post!
I own a V plate uk turbo and the clutch is slipping. Only mod is a forge dump valve and stainless back system so no real extra power than standard!
My question is should i have a standard exedy clutch, or stage 1 clutch fitted? Is there any significant benefit? Or any other suggestions? Where is the best place to buy? Im also slightly confused as there appears to be 225mm and 230mm clutches. Im not a mechanic so going to have it fitted.
Many thanks Craig

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

225mm is wrx/UK, 230mm is sti, you can fit a 230mm clutch but make sure you match the flywheel,
If I was you I would fit a lightened flywheel and organic clutch, nowt fancy for your mods,
You could get your flywheel skimmed but Id rather fit new and lighter, it will rev a little better so that's a bonus.

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

cheers bugeye! Im not really after power gains or any kind of increase in speed or accelaration. you say fit a lightened flywheel, if i had my flywheel skimmed would that not match the 230mm stage 1 clutch then? I spoke to a supplier (not ebay lol) and they were ok that it would fit? Are there any probs doing this then if so, what?
Thanks Craig

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

ok cheers mate! Where would you suggest i buy the above you mention and what companies should i stay clear of? I was thinking an exedy stage 1, and as you say a flywheel to match. What am i looking at for a flywheel if i do upgrade and in terms of performance will i notice much?

AS Performance
would be worth a call,
it wont feel faster as such but it will pick up better on the run, a bit like when you have a couple of mates in your car, once you drop them off your car feels faster,
you can get your flywheel skimmed but there is then down time while thats done and your car is in bits.

Scoobyworld have exchange flywheels (skimmed already) in stock. When i was there last they wanted yours plus 90 which i thought was pretty good. I went for a lightened one though

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

thanks guys, seems the best decision is to fit a new flywheel, so while on ebay looking at thai-boxing equipment i typed in flywheel impreza.
Can anybody tell me would this number on ebay be ok as it is an exedy, item number 270514708505 ?
Also is it worth fitting a quick shift kit too?
Thanks Craig

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

thinking of an exedy standard clutch and lightened flywheel as this clutch is ok for up to 300bhp. this would be ok then i could possible get lightened crank pulley fitted toowhich apparently is a sensible mod as long as it is a stock size. what do you guys think?

Re: Classic Scooby Clutch?

had an uprated exedy in mine rated at 250 bhp, coped well with mine at 290 bhp, soon started to struggle as it got closer to the 300 mark.. currently running the exedy FK01H1601 in mine,no problems at all, light pedal, handles lunching well, and it's still not bed in yet..
