newbie attempting engine change need help which engine lol

hi i have bought a 98 impreza turbo with a dreaded bottom end clang, from what i have worked out it is a phase 1.5 engine with the straight intercooler and the coil pack in the centre of the engine, however the one i looked at today had a offset coil pack and i wondered if it is the same engine or not cheers any help would be great as i have really struggled to find information on this matter cheers

fit your intake manifolds etc to the new bottom end/heads, then it will all use your old loom, if it was from a newage donor then it gets a little more complicated.
