yeah they can be, ebay do kits, M12 x 1.5 x 18mm thread,
the replacement stainless bolts are £4.30 from Subaru too.

Thanks Bob - just have to watch the detail in those kits - it says M12X1,5 at the top, but it is actually M12 X 1,75 (standard pitch). The 1,5D means that the length of the insert is 1,5 X the diameter = 18mm. Our threads are definitely 1,5 pitch (Metric fine).
