Thinner tires for snow?

Last year I had 205/50/16 for winter tires. The handling on snowy roads was horrible I had little japanese kei cars passing me up on the mountain roads because I felt unsafe driving any faster. My car is pretty light at 1250kg so I'm thinking for this winter I'll switch to 185/50/16 so I can cut through the snow instead of riding on top.

Has anyone done this? Will 185s fit on 7inch rims? and will I have to get an alignment done? Thanks!

Re: Thinner tires for snow?

Thinner tyres do cut through the snow better, but there is no replacement for winter tyres. My BMW X3 has huge tyres and is shitte in the snow, but the Scooby on 195's was great. I've been looking around for a spare set of wheels for the X3 to fit winters tyres.
Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.
