Petrol in oil! injectors?

Hi all
Iv got a new (old ongoing) fault. My oil stinks of fuel even straight after oil change,
Iv been told a number of things from diff mechanics, could be lambda sensor, leaky injectors or damaged piston rings or coolant sensors. There is no smoke coming out of exhaust but smells very petroly, a very bad MPG 10 at best, before i go and buy new lambda and possibly wasting my money has anybody got an idea what its more likely to be? No cel light showing either, Replaced spark plugs and my tapping noise quietened but it appears to be back again now, thanks alot matt grimsby

Re: Petrol in oil! injectors?

bad news.....just took it to a scooby specialist and he did a compression test on it. cylindors 1 and 3 are very low in comparison to the others, it also has tapping sounds, is this more likly to be a valve issue or and head gasket issue? and would either cause fuel to enter the oil?? BTW no smoke from exhaust..no cloudy oil, but he did say it may not show up and still be blown

Re: Petrol in oil! injectors?

could be any number of things, but if compressions screwed then its full rebuild teritory. you may not see any other signs, failed compression test is enough on its own

options realy are dependant on budget now

Thats not entirley true, there are some tests that can be done to see where the leak is coming from. I forgot how they are done, but you can test if the valves are leaking or the gaskets or the piston rings. So it might not be a full rebuild

you can, but, problem with scoob engines is there pretty fragile when something mechinical goes wrong internaly. if the valves bent it may be hitting the piston, may be a crack in the head, valve seat may be damaged etc etc etc the cost of taking the engine out, stripping it down some is pretty high , and go further isn't much more.

Like headgaskets, some people say that when they go just switch them out job done, not always that simple. if the pressure spikes the crank bearings can be damaged and 1000 miles later the crank give up the ghost. so for an extra few hundred quid it costs to change the crnk bearings and check out the crank is it worth doing or worth taking the risk?
