Wire woll in exhaust

Alright guys,

I was just looking round the wrx i imported. last night i noticed there seemed to be wire wool stuffed up the exhaust, it not the orginal exhaust. Would you say the previous owner did this to reduce the noise or emissions ? Should i take it out ?

cheers

it isn't really that loud compared to other wrx's i've heard, i think you could be right i had a look last night when i was pulling the wire wool out some of it seem to be attached to the exhaust. The exterior of the exhaust seems to be in good condition ... should i get a new one or just leve it ?

Well if the wire is kinda blocking the inside of the pipe then this could be detrimental to performance.....think of it acting a bit like a catalytic convertor.

I woudl say save your pennies and invest in a replacement 8) and release that Burble
