Got well oiled last night. I have managed to buy a runaround from a friend for 200 Rover 216si Very good condition its just that he has got banded for a few years and its to tempting for him having it on his drive.
So now its what to do with the Type R.

 i think you'v e got to weigh up the options mate

1. how much would it be worth if fixed ????
2. how much would it cost to get fixed ????
3. is it worth more in spares ????
4. is it worth the bother all together , just sell as is . ????
5. get back to standard & sell the extra's ????

all of these dont sound very good , but i know what i'd do mate ....

. RE-BUILD IT !!!!!!!!

1/ No matter how much I spend on it. It will still be worth about 10,000
2/ Anything from 2000 upwards depending on speck.
3/ The mods are worth more than the car. But even so will get very little on braking it.
4/ Good option but who would want a car with a big end gone.
5/ I cannot get it to standard all standard parts are in the bin ops:
A Type R is not a Type R without the uprated engine and gearbox etc. It is pointless putting a std UK engine in and trying to sell it. I would just not do that.
BUT "we can rebuild it better stronger than it was before." (6 million dollar man)

Been getting a few quotes but they all seem to talk telephone numbers.

Sorry to hear aboiut your car mate. I know how it feels as mine did the same about a year ago exactly. My rebuild cost me 3000, and it took the guy about 3 months to do it. Took forever getting the right parts in from japan. Was not happy but the ol gal is back up and running as good as new. Its a hurtful thing when it happens and it almost makes u not want to drive it again. I say get it sorted. Well worth it, as u wont loose as much on the car as if u try to sell it for parts. The other option is to look out for a secondhand engine on ebay, which u could pick up for about 500-1000. Wish i had done that. There is a risk element, but might be well worth it.

I could get a second hand engine very cheap, but I would not want to keep the car knowing it has a lower spec engine than the Type R should have. I could also not sale it to anyone knowing this. I'm not like that. I just could not do it.
I could rebuild it to Type R spec but at the moment I just cannot be bothered to even pick up the phone for prices.
