Manual doesn't say how to clean aircon system !

I need to clean the aircon filter as it just plain stinks when the aircon is on nowadays.

I don't feel like driving 60 miles to the Subaru dealer and the manual doesn't say where the damn pollenfilter is located bar "you should visit the official Subaru dealer". :x

Can anybody tell me how I can get the thing cleaned ? Where is it located ? (I've seen a big fan in the passenger footwell, but it doesn't look like the place where somebody would have fitted a pollenfilter).

I know there are some products I can introduce into the system to kill bacteria. Via where should I get that into the system ?

Many thanks !!

Maybe give the dealer a ring n ask them where about it is, but phrase it as "I need this done, is it a big job n how would you do it?"

Found this thread on ClubWRX.net it looks like the filter is behind the glove box.

That sounds like a possibility. I saw some funny fiitings that looked as if the entire glovebox-assembly could be taken out.

Thanks for the advice ! :5: You will be rewarded in heaven.

i think the filter ads behind the glove box, not very hard to get at. can you get a new filter with carbon in it? they last a lot longer than the factory ones.
or there are some steam aircon clearners that do a good job...

some thing like this

Gosh... How's your Japanese ??

Mine is a carbon filter which came as a option when the car was bought.

I'll check behind the glovebox tonight. Hope I don't make the airbag bang out

Don't worry anymore, it's broken down...

Don't worry anymore. It's broken down (Malfunction Indicator lamp is on and remains on) and will be taken away on a lorry later today to the nearest dealer. I'll ask him to look at the filter.

Thanks anyway to all of you ! :5:

If the car is ready by tomorrow evening, I'll be able to pick it up myself and will ask them.

Still  to have the thing having problems. I thought Subarus were bulletproof !
