Re: ecu help
no idea what ECU is fitted, best be is for you to pop the passegerside foot plate out and have a look,as it's an early car the ECU isn't mapable,so and aftermaket ECU will be need if you want power gains and your motor running right with any added mods..

Re: ecu help
aftermarket ECU world can be a mine field, solaris, symtec, gems, apexi to name but a few, spose it's down to personal preferance of what "toys" you want dialed in,price of unit and chosen "toys" and tunability for future mods etc...

Re: ecu help
i know the symtec copes well with big power, unsure on any of the others,as for mods needed to hit the 400 mark, engine rebuild(uprated componants),injectors,FMIC,headers, oil cooler, oil catchcan, fuel rails,BIG turbo, bigger exhaust 3" full decat, lightened fly and uprated clutch to cope with the desired power and a gearbox rebuild or a 6speed conversion, and then there's the braking upgrade that WILL be needed, and the suspension, springs, shocks,or coilovers, bushes, droplinks,ARB's,braces, bumpsteer, trailing arms, camber adjustment etc, also will need a minimum of 18" rims with some of the big brake conversions, stickie tyres the list goes on,so if you've got rougly £20k to buy the bits then add labour, map and RR time, and then add some more £'s into the mix and you wil have built a pretty good motor, i know of some owners that have put over 40k into a motor just to get to the 400bhp mark and even alot more to obtain the 700bhp mark!!!

Re: ecu help
tbh for what your proposing your gonna be spending alot of money, my guess around 10K plus.
you'll need to replace the engine, ecu, turbo, gearbox, clutch etc etc, not cheap at all.

Re: ecu help
400 bhp is a massive target if you haven't got a massive wallet!! Get to 300 bhp first, then see how your bank balance is looking, if you've still got thousands left to burn, crack on!!
