Imports and WARRANTYS

Hi all can anyone tell me about buying a new import and the WARRANTY on that particular vehicle
1.will a main dealer honour the WARRANTY
2.will you have to take it back to the main supplier for any WARRANTY work (if required)
3.will you get the 3yrs/36000 mile cover
4.will you be able to mod it without losing the WARRANTY

Heres my response - other should be able to expand on this...

1.will a main dealer honour the WARRANTY
Yes they will but EU warrenty is different and Jap warrenty is different again. Subaru will work on the car though
2.will you have to take it back to the main supplier for any WARRANTY work (if required) No, Subaru uk did once tell us that a part HAD to be ordered through the country of origin and that it took 3 weeks....
3.will you get the 3yrs/36000 mile cover
This is dependant on where the car is purchased from etc etc but not 100% sure how to answer this one?
4.will you be able to mod it without losing the WARRANTY
You would lose your warrenty on the modded part if its an import or uk car. Basically those that mod instantly lose the warrenty associated with the modded part... Say you sticker the car up then they wont honour the warrenty for paint work etc

Hope thats a start to a good thread Look forward to hearing others points

I would personally say uk BUT many do opt for import... I prefer to pay the extra cos insurance is cheaper also - couldnt really insure an import at the minute. Most imports have more power over the uk car as they are mapped to work with 98RON fuel or higher... This should be an interesting debate

Im not saying i wouldnt buy an import as i would maybe in later years however, UK car i opted for and im really happy with the service from subaru uk so far Especially CVC cardiff.

Do you mean parallel import or grey import?.

I assume you mean parrallel.

AFAIK you do not get warrenty on imports as they are not UK cars. They may be UK spec but that is it. It will be up to the place you bought it from to give you any sort of warrenty.

Alternatively there are places wihich will give a car warrenty for a price.

If you mod anything they are liable to void the warrenty, ie get out of paying anything, typical insurence company stuff.
