Collant smell from heater

Hi all was wondering if someone can help.

I recently changed my radiator hoses as the top one developed a split, the car was running fine until yesterday.

When I turned the heater on I had a smell of coolant in the car and then when I stopped I noticed that there was steam coming out of near the washer bottle but the coolant level was normal but not coolant in the overfill funnel.

Has anyone else had this just that im not sure whats wrong. Im just on the guessing game at the moment.

Was it frozen by any chance? Cars can overheat when frozen strangely enough
