FREE POWER UPGRADES FOR IMPREZA WRX AND STi

For Immediate Release

FREE POWER UPGRADES FOR IMPREZA WRX AND STi

Subaru is offering free performance upgrades for its iconic Impreza WRX and STi Type-UK, raising power to 265 and 305 PS respectively.

The deal covers the three-month period of May, June and July or while stocks last and is worth 1,995 for the STi and 1,600 on the WRX.

The Prodrive-developed Performance Packs are fitted by the dealer after registration and carry the full Subaru three year/60,000 mile warranty.

It means the Impreza WRX STi Type-UK sees its power rise to 305 PS and torque leap from 253 lb.ft to 299 lb.ft resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and
0-100 mph in 12.2 seconds. Top speed is in excess of 155 mph.

Meanwhile, the standard WRX available in both saloon and 5-door bodystyles now has 265 PS and 257 lb.ft of torque. The 0-60 mph time is reduced from an already rapid 5.6 seconds to 4.8 seconds with 100 mph coming up in 14.1 seconds instead of 15.9 seconds.

Both Prodrive Performance Packs include a reprogrammed Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and free-flow exhaust system with a large single rear tailpipe.

The Impreza WRX saloon costs 20,300 with the 5-door at 20,800 while the WRX STi Type-UK is 26,400 (all prices On-The-Road).

Catch is probably to ensure sales are up. Those months can be lean as people wait for the new reg in September. Plus maybe they want to clear the decks so they are not left with a stock pile of 05's when the 06 comes out......

I mean when you think my UK300 was 25,000 plus another 1600 for ppp and at the end of the day it was a cosmeticly enhanced wrx which are now just under 21000 with ppp. Just think what mods you can do with the 5600 extra I spent.......

I heard that the Subaru garage near us was doing the PPP instead of the extended warranty. I'll ask about it when I next see them. 8)

Would Pro Drive do any upgrade packs for the imports at all? Do they just cater for the UK spec models? I would be interested in seeing them about a few things....

Phil,

For what I know, the Prodrive pack is exactly the same for imports as for "Type UK"-cars. So you can fit it without any problems.

I talked to a Belgian dealer and it seems the pack is exactly the same. Only if you install it in Belgium, I think it's about 330GBP cheaper (plus the work is only 20 GBP an hour there...). 8)

I am unsure about the warranty. I know Scandinavian importers have not approved the PPP and if you get it installed here (in Finland) on a UK car, you lose the warranty. So in my case, I would have to get it done back in the UK

Phil.

If you want the website of Subaru Belgium, it's www.subaru.be.

Unfortunately, it seems to be down tonight. But if you want, I can check it for you (it would be in French or Dutch anyway).

I have not found the PPP kit on the German or French site.

If ever you need a contact with a good dealer (he's a big scoob fan also), I can help you too. The guy has sold quite a few Impreza's to UK customers and he speaks perfectly English.

(with the money you save on kit and work and the extra you can save by getting the car serviced there and filling up on beer... you can entertain you lady for a nice weekend ! 8) )

Will keep you posted,
Sandy
