rcm no longer fit 650s to their customer cars matt likes a bit of headroom, dave rowe maps them ok, when i had 400 the 8oos were fine but we never stay at 400 do we? 800s on mine are history

Re: Upgrade path - daily driver

that maybe the RCM way, but other tuners will have different opinions.
Ideally the injectors should be at 85% duty.

Is this in your mystery scoob?

Re: Upgrade path - daily driver

am i right in saying as ive read in a post that overkill is wrong. ie dont put 800cc injectors in if you only need 600cc as they should be runing around 85% duty cycle. if this is the case whats the cosequences of running at less duty cycle

Re: Upgrade path - daily driver

- 650cc injectors will be fine for 450

- The std ecu will be fine for 400+ (i have taken mine to 545bhp in the past) - just needs remapping and retains all the std factory safety and driveability.

- i wouldnt bother with a bigger tmic - the sti tmic is very good and is better than most of the aftermarket tmic's

- pick a good turbo (MD321T) and it will work great for 400+ on the std tmic with good spool up with the vvt heads on your year car.

- induction kit - yes this is worthwhile. Go for a larger diameter RCM trumpet kit or larger diameter cold air kit that goes into the inner wing. It is important that the MAF tube diameter is larger than std to extend the reading range of the std maf sensor as it will max it out on the std sizing.

05 STi is the best to tune as a base for 400-450bhp.

Would seriously look at a fmic kit though in time when budget allows. (and clutch)

Re: Upgrade path - daily driver

I am not saying that.

Duncan was explaining the fact that there is little point in going to 800cc for 400bhp as 650cc will cope. He is expressing his opinion as a mapper as to what is required to get the OP to his target.
