Re: I/C spray advice

Most people use it when accelerating hard or when sat in stationary or slow moving traffic. Keeps the Intercooler nice and cool by spraying water mist on the IC while accelerating etc

Do you use it just before accelerating hard so that there is time for the intercooler to, well, cool. Or do you use it just as you accelerate? Does it make much of a difference? Can't say I can feel a difference using mine (at around 20 degrees Celsius outside), but on the other hand would Subaru be fitting them if they didn't make some difference?

Re: I/C spray advice

Don't think they make much difference to performance it’s just to dampen the top of the intercooler. The water will then evaporate, taking heat away from the intercooler and cooling the intake charge, which is a good thing.

So presumably that latent heat process takes a few seconds to actually cool the air in any significant way...so I should press the button a few seconds before I go on an overtaking spree?

Yep, as bob was asking earlier, some imports have an auto mode also. Don't think this is fitted to UK Models though.
