Question brakes???

hello every one
im new here and would like some advice, on some brakes for my subaru impreza turbo yr00

it dosnt seem to stop that good

i think it has the 4 pots on the front!

is it easy easy enough, to change the rears to match?

thinking about buying some thing like this of ebay:

subaru impreza 4 pot front brake calipers on eBay (end time 25-Jul-10 22:27:46 BST)

also any recommendations on what discs and pads?
are the fronts 195mm?
prefer a grooved disc!

will be upgrading the brake hoses as well!
thanks

Re: brakes???

Hi the link is just for a 4 pot caliper, if you already have 4 pots on the front you wont gain anything.

Re: brakes???

As Technical_Bob said. You have the same front 4 pots on your Impreza. So it wont make any diffrence.

Re: brakes???

1994 - 1998 - front - 276mm ventilated discs.

1999 - 2000 - front - 292mm ventilated discs.

2001 - 2005 - front - 294mm ventilated discs.

Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads are very good.

Re: brakes???

I would strip them down and ensure all is working correctly first,
As the car is 10 years old they can start to sieze/stick so making sure it is all working ok before you start to spend more money,
I agree Pads are a good start but Im not convinced that a grooved disc is a advantage on the road and the noise isnt nice.

The brakes are just checked for % of stopping, they are rarely hot when tested too which is where the sticking etc comes in,
I had a wrx classic that passed a mot with ease but the brakes were shot,

For the sake of a few hours you would be surprised how correctly working/cleaned brakes make a difference,
and you can check for even wear on the discs and pads, if the fronts are working but the rears arent 100% then you will be putting extra work on the fronts which will take performance away on longer runs.

Re: brakes???

Replacing Front Pads/Discs Classic 4 Pots that might come in handy and also for the rears Replacing Rear discs/pads & adjusting handbrake on a classic I use Ferodo DS2500 pads all round in mine have them fitted round a year and a half and they like new long lasting pad depending on how hard you drive it

All your cars braking is done through the front calipers with a small percentage of braking to the rear so if you were to upgrade to 6pots up from that would make a difference to what you have now but as above Id strip the brakes all round send them off to a professional and get them done all cleaned out and Id just upgrade then to a DS2500 pad all round and Id be happy with that
