Are these brake pads any good,

SUBARU IMPREZA TURBO WRX BREMBO ANL SPORT Brake Pad set on eBay (end time 06-Aug-10 11:20:54 BST)

Was looking at buying red stuff pads for front and rear to improve my brakes.

Im a great believer in you get what you pay for but am also a believer in you pay for a brand name not always the quality.

These are apparantly uprated kevlar pads, how do they compare to the EBC stuff, and does anybody else have suggestions for any good brake pads.

Re: Are these brake pads any good,

chioce is yours fella, most scoob owners use the ferodo ds pad range, use reds on mine, just need to get heat into the buggers to get them to anchor up at a respectable rate

Re: Are these brake pads any good,

I think these are the same pads i bought last time, was defo brembo's someone recommended, they were very good tbh BUT they have only lasted about 3 months They were actually better for braking than the previous better brake pads that i had, but as mentioned above I had to jump on them to stop the car althought they did last over a year but only really worked properly when i got a bit of heat into them.

So no i wouldn't recommend these pads even though they are cheaper than the ones i got, in saying that i am going to have to buy them again as i just paid out cartax and am about to fork out for timing belt etc so it's all i can afford right now

So what did you go for?

or you had the Evo 4-9 pads fitted previously, thats the difference about 2mm so people fit the Evo pads and leave the shims out from what I can see.

Re: Are these brake pads any good,

Now i feel like a complete idiot i have to take back what i said about the pads not lasting. Was convinced the front Brembo's were worn, got a certain garage at my work to check them when gettin a puncture repaired and they said they were worn, nothing left on them

Guy at garage today was like they pads are fine barely worn at all, just need to get everything off disks etc, clean and grease as probably dirt and grit from the bad winter.

He can't do till next week as off for a few days, will get him to fit shims while he's at it.

So it would seem the pads are better than first thought sorry Brembo

First friggin garage is same company i work for so can't name and shame but they are crap...so bad. Wouldn't know a sports pad if it hit them in the face

Running the Ferodo ds 2500 pads alround in mine used the shims up till round a year ago but took them out as suppose to be a good thing that the heat from the pad will escape faster when shims are off then that will improve brake feel and make the braking bit more reponsive so tried it in mine round a year ago and I still have the shims off and I noticed the difference straight away I get over the squeal after warmed up it goes away in mine anyway

Re: Are these brake pads any good,

Also with the brembos there isnt that much meat on the pads to start with, its only about 17mm worth of material on a new pad which may explain why 1 company thought they were low if they didnt have experience of this type of pad.
