Squeaking noise at rear

I have a strange and unnerving noise coming from the back of my 2006 WRX. Itís like the squeaking and creaking a trailer makes when it goes round a corner, with a bit of rubber noise thrown in. However, it happens only at low speeds, and in a straight line as well as when going round corners!

Iíve had the wife standing outside the car and she canít hear it, so it seems that it must be inside. Iíve had the rear tray out and tightened the rear wheel up, etc, and nothing has changed. Iím wondering whether the rear seat is loose but it doesnít appear to be. The only other thing I can then think of is a problem with one of the coilovers, but the car has only just been serviced and MOTíd.

Any ideas out there? Anyone advise me on how to remove the rear seat and have a look myself before I send it into the garage?

Cheers all.

Re: Squeaking noise at rear

Check the rear drop links, might be worth removing them and greasing them up. Silicon grease or copper grease should do the trick

Thanks, I'll have a look at them. They're whiteline and have only been on a year!

Re: Squeaking noise at rear

Have a look at all the bushings, try putting some lithium/ silicon grease on them... Torsion bars for the boot (basically the bootlid spring.) Grease those.

Remove the rear bottom seat cushion. There are only 2 bolts holding it in, so this should be easy. Undo these bolts, and the whole cushion should slide forward.

Re: Squeaking noise at rear

I had exactly the same problem.
It went away when I fitted my rear ARB and replaced the ARB bushes.

Re: Squeaking noise at rear

As above Id take off the anti roll bar bushes and grease them with lithium grease that should sort it
