The only thing im really aware of is the cost of tyres  There is a clear increase in cost over 17"

I cannot comment on handling as have 17s myself

All the best

Well ont he Classic Impreza I do believe that SubaruUK backed up by Prodrive said that the 16 inch wheel was the best size for handling etc and was the wheel best suited to the Impreza chassis etc. However one of the upgrade packs by Prodrive on the Classic was to fit 17 inch wheels. They did however recommend altering the geometry of the car to assist the new sized wheels etc....

Now with the Newage (liek you have) they fit 17's as standard albeit with wider tyres and the upgrade Prodrive package is now 18 inch wheels Now the new Imprezas have a wider track etc as standard and the characteristics of the chassis etc have ben altered. So it just goes to show that Prodrive think that 18's is the largest size wheel to go for as to not hamper the handling of the car

For me the price of 18 inch tyres is a bit scarey and on the basis that 4WD Turbo cars eat tyres for breakfast I think 17 inch is a good compromise

cheers for the info guys,

I've been going mad for months trying to decide what the hell to do about some new alloys, I can't stand my gold STi ones at all, I had the OZ supperleggera 18's on my last newage scoob but It never felt too good under handling, maybe the bloke I got it off upgraded to 18" without a geometry setup ??

Im split between another set of superleggeras or maybe some rota tarmac2 or Pff7 replicas,

each of em look better or worse when in 17" or 18" plus the prices are a killer.

Its proper doing my head in now, Im going insane
