hi eric, the price sounds pretty good, its not a cheap item, i beleive something in the region of £100 for the belt, and a good couple of hours fitting if my memory serves me correctly?
I dont think you will notice any difference at all, apart from piece of mind, as it would cost a packet more to have the engine rebuilt!

Shame about the scooby driver, if they have your number there is no point trying to out run them

Done mine myself, just cost me £90 for the belt. I thought that was expensive enough!
While i was doing the belt i also done the crankshaft oil seal 2.

Was wondering how much it would of cost if i had a garage 2 do it.

As Buzz said, u won't feel any difference now u have had your belt changed!

Sorry 2 hear about that guy in the scoob. It is a waste of life and a waste of a good car.
Dont think its worth trying 2 run if u have been court by the police!

Garages vary in price so much.

I always do my own. It takes no time at all really. Belt prices vary so much too. I've paid £65 and I've paid £110.

£250 is about the average price for a cambelt change by itself.

The 'average' service including the change seems to cost around £400.

The only problem when it comes to a cambelt change is that if someone who does it aren't sure what they are doing, they can forget to check the bearings or may get the belt slightly out. I've seen it a few times.

Hi
I had by belt changed (45000 Mile Service) at H. Robinson and Sons(Rochdale). http://www.dealer.autotrader.co.uk/robinsonsr1.htm : The belt was £84 + Labour. Charging at total of £336.47 for the service.
Not bad really cos there is a bit of work there. It didnít make any difference.
I had a chat with the bloke on the desk about the engine. I was under the impression they did not self destruct if the cam belt went. He seemed to agree but didnít really confirm what I had said. Only saying he had never heard of a cam belt failure
I came out thinking  was that a waste of money??? ££££ :?
I fancy the WRX STi 4dr WR1 Ltd Edition robinsons have for sale at the moment 8) but £28000 and a baby don't go

Kev.

Hey mate. Read about the crash on SN. Someone posted who knew the bloke. Apparently he got pulled by the rossers and then sped off. Clipped a curb and went into a ditch at speed. Tragic loss of a life. As always from SN some really sensitive comments such as "he had it coming". Muppets. RIP.
