STi , buy or not ?

Hi Guys

I'm new on this Forum. I'm a Subaru Lover and some months ago I sold my Subaru Impreza GT MY99. Now I'd like to buy a new STi but I need your help for a good choice.

I want to buy a 2006-2007 STi ( 2.5l Turbo ) but I heard some strange things about its EJ25 Engine. There are many people who blown their STi's engines in 15-20'000 kms and the car was full stock ( as they say ) and now I'm a lil bit afraid about that.

The problem ( as I know ) are the Pistons that have not a good quality. I'll find a second hand car so ...I'm worried. Is true what people say about these Pistons ?
Anyway I'll make no any Tuning on my car ...no Ecu Tuning, no Bigger Turbo, no Higher Boostpressure .....nothing, just a full stock car.

I dont want an older ( 02-03-04-05 ) STi ..so the choice is, 06-07 STi or Evo IX. What's your suggestion guys ? What should I buy ? I hope you can help me , becouse I'm really confused at the moment.

Thank You So Much !!!!!!

Re: STi , buy or not ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but at 15-20,000K's it would still be under warranty so who gives a rat's A if it has a heart attack. Unless of course you did do something silly that would void your warranty.

I dare suggest no-one here is going to suggest an evo as a good solution.

PS Does anyone reckon I can claim warranty on my genuine 35,000 K's RA rally car? Only driven to church on Sundays, it's just that church is a long way down a dirt road and we're always in a hurry....

Engines can blow in any cars dont belive everything you hear, any car can be troublesome have my sti Ra version 6 nearly 2years and never had any problems with it just regulary service it and it never misses a beat just take a mechanic with you to give the car a good look over before you buy it but I'd go for the Sti cant go wrong get plenty of service history and it should always be run on super unleaded 99ron be great best of luck dont rush in buying one as the market is flooded with plenty and still can find plenty of bargains to be had but remember you get what you pay for so dont go too cheap hope it helps
