Side light bulb replacement.

Hi,

I want to change my side light bulbs on my 2005 gx sport and the manual states that I have to remove the headlight in order to do so.

I removed the grille and the three bolts as described, unclipped the wires from the rear but just couldn't get the headlight out. It does come out at the top but appears to be stuck at the bottom.

I don't want to pull it too excessively as it does appear to be stuck, can anyone tell me if there is another clip or bolt below the bumper line or does the bumper have to be removed in order to replace the light.

Just registered to reply to your question.
Bought an MY03 a few weeks ago & changed a side light yesterday.

What a stupid design! you can get to all the bulbs easily except for the side lights. Anyhow here's how I got to it:

Removed grill - Undid 3 bolts on the light cluster - loosened bumper - yanked out the light cluster. Note that there are a couple of 'lugs' lower down that seem to hold the cluster in position - that's what I suspect is sticking. You're almost there...

thats great thanks, I suspect that I was being a bit too gentle I'll loosen the bumper off a bit more. I'll report back how I got on.

thanks

Re: Side light bulb replacement.

ok so I finally managed it, there were a couple of retaining pins which located the headlight pics below :

the first pic shows the two retaining bolts at the top of the headlight

this one shows the hidden one

these are the two pins, I found that by wiggling and pulling the headlight popped out without too much effort.

The bulb replacement was a cinch.

I would say that also as diesel said loosen the plastic pop in retainers and pop off the grille first.

I hope that the pictures help anyone else who wants to replace their own side light bulbs.

footnote: I suspect that now that I have had the headlights out that they may need realignment, the beam pattern seems a bit odd. I did replace the driving bulbs as well, got a good price from autobulbs in southampton.
