05 WRX PPP - Replace backbox - Advice

Hi Everyone,

I have an 05 plate WRX with the prodrive pack on and was thinking of replacing the backbox for something a little louder . Anyway, I have a few questions:

1) Can I replace just the backbox - i.e. will the new one fit the existing PPP centre section?
2) What would you go for?
3) Could it increase power output, or is this unlikely seeing as its already got a PPP backbox (could it decrease it)?
4) Will it need remapping?

Thanks in advance.
Paul

As loud as possible (within reason - I mean, I need to be able to hear the sterio right

Is the connection to the centre section a standard size or something then?

Thanks.

Thanks. I ended up getting a Ninja II on ebay for a good price. Sounds better than my prodrive box, but still aint that loud. Should I replace the centre section? Would that make a difference?

If its the standard centre section then yes it will help a bit. I put a hayward and scott deresonated centre on my blob eye and it gave me slightly more noise. Im using the prodrive backbox on it and put the centre and back on at the same time along with the prodrive decat. made a huge difference from standard but not as much as i have heard on other scoobs. I got my mate to drive it and i stood on the road to listen rather than inside the car and was well pleased with the result. maybe you should do the same as my car really seems to dampen the sound to the interior!

I am bit stuck between chosing the deresonated or a resonated centre pipe. I dont want too much cabin noise on the motorway.

Cool - well, I ordered an afterburner centre today with no resonator and may change the downpipe cat to a sports cat.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Is it a must to remap. What will be the result if I dont? I doubt I will have the cash to do that too soon.

Yes it is a must remap if fitting a sports or a full decat on a newage,on a classic you can get away with it ,on a newage a no no.PPP are common with overboosting when decatted, amongst other problems ending ultimatley with a bang and a large hole in your wallet
