new to subarus and in need of help
 

i just bought a 95 impreza with a blown motor..the po blew it up and didn't want anything to do with it..i guess the guy before the po did all the work and changed the motor at one time... the po said to get a 2.5 from a 98 because it has all 98 rs stuff on it and he thought the guy put an a motor from a 98 in it before..my question..is there a difference between motors from different years? also would the clutches be different? any advice/help would be awesome....thanks
