Rear wheel/hub getting v. hot. UK turbo 2000
While driving to work the other day I suddenly heard a humming noise coming from the rear. I slowed down and after a couple of miles it stopped. When I stopped the rear left wheel was very hot.
There's no noise any more, just a hot wheel after driving. I think the handbrake may be sticking slightly coz when I stop it feels like the hand brake is slightly on. There's no play in the wheel, jacked it up and checked. Maybe the handbrake shoe has worn to metal. Anyone else had this problem? Do handbrake shoes suddenly disintergrate? |

Think you might be right. hope its not the bearing! gonna check tomorrow.
Its just had new rear pads fitted. only had car for a couple of months so still getting to grips with it. runs superb. got a full subaru history tho but on 140k i'd expect there to be a few mileage related issues. my last scoob(98 wagon) had 168k when i sold it 3 yrs ago. wonder if its still going? anyone got a green r reg very high mileage wagon with magnex exhaust!? ![]() |
