Hi,

On the 04 WRX. I would start with a stainless steel exhaust "centre section" & a rear performance backbox/silencer. By fitting the centre section no cats are removed so your car will remain MOT emissions friendly

Remove the centre section with the resonator.

nice one cheers for the advice, what would you recommend on the filter side, should i just get an uprated panel filter or should or go for an induction kit? What would see the most power gains?

Re: Amateur needs help tuning

Standard air box with a green panel filter will improve air flow.

No sound and no power gains. "BUT" a green panel filter will make quite a difference in the way the car drives. "It will pick up better"

Re: Amateur needs help tuning

your car has three cats. Get a centre section which removes the 3rd cat as wheel as the resonator and a back box and panel filter. Then start saving for a remap. Thats along the lines of what i did- shocking difference!

Yep - will do well with that.

Be sure to drive off boost if you fit this before remapping until mapped.

i presume by this you mean dont allow the turbo to kick in when driving? Why is this?

Because with the lack of backpressure the turbo will most likely overboost significantly. This may or may not cause a problem with det but it will be taking it into areas where the std ecu map from subaru wont be designed for so it will be untested.

Best to drive off boost until mapped - most people normally fit these types of exhaust systems a day or two before mapping then poodle around til mapped.

Re: Amateur needs help tuning

Hi, is a remap essential for a backbox and centre section upgrade? Or just the next step in tuning? Sorry for jumping on this thread BTW.

Thanks - Ben
