i've got a tiny one!

Finally after all the p'ssers with getting a small lightweight battery for the Spec C, it's finally in place. My original battery was like this.............

With some frustrations with terminal and battery post sizes, and with suitable sized clamps for keeping the battery in place, it's now all sorted...........

After spending 40.00 on a battery tray and then sending it back because it was pants, i ended up getting a metal bracket from B+Q for 2.00. I drilled a hole in it and smothered it with black hammerite paint. To help keep it in place and from slipping i glued part of a 1.00 rubber asda car floor matt to the back of the bracket.
With some help from my brother we managed to get good contacts on both terminals by doing a bit of bending and experimenting with the bits n pieces i had at hand.

Overall, it was fairly straight forward(today) after all the nonsense i've been through to fit it.

At last! What is the weight saving on that? Hope it has lightened your car at least as much as it lightened your wallet.

Seriously though, nice one for getting it sorted.

It's definately lightened my wallet more than the car . the Battery is 6kg, not sure what a normal size battery would be. I've heard that if going lightweight then Varley Red Top are the ones to get. I do a fair few stop n start daily short journeys so i'm going to see how long it will go before getting sluggish. It cranks instantly.

Hopefully now it's done, and with my CTEK battery conditioner, i'll hopefully never have to worry about the sodding thing again!

Standard Battery = 25 Kg Varley = 6 Kg 19 Kg saved

Was fairly easy to fit after my brothers clamp mod... available in garden sheds everywhere for 2.00

Thanks Ian, tbh, i feel i was given a little bit of dodgy advice about the battery tray and terminal posts. But in the end the terminal posts did come in handy. But the whole thing cost far too much money at the end of the day , just for a battery to get fitted. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come when owning a JDM
