Classic wrx sti info needed - Engine Oil

Hi all,

Ive just joined the website as I have just purchased my first scooby! (sti import 94)

Ive purchased the car as a project and going to be doing alot of work on it, not over modding just getting it up and running as it should an giving it a full overhaul.

I was just wondering if there is any info or past threads on recommended engine oil for the classic scoobies? Is a thicker oil, maybe 15w - 50 better?

Also what exactly is the difference between the sti and standard wrx? Is it just uprated ECU's and injectors........?

Thanks in advance.

Gareth

Oil advice and recommendations here talk to guy about oil in that link, also sti's have uprated engine internals, uprated brakes, uprated suspension, short shifter, uprated ecu and more power over a WRX

10-40 or 10-50 in that chap fully synthetic imho
I used 10-50 on a more track orientated classic.

Thanks for the link, just what I've been searching for.

10w - 40 or 10w - 50 is what Ive been swaying towards. What make do you use?

Thanks for the info on the STI, what brake upgrades do they have? It has 2 pot calipers so was this an upgarde from the early imprezas with 1 pots?

What BHP should I expect from it? I have been told about 280 bhp as its an import.
