Is it worth it

:? Hi all,just a quick question.
Is it worth decating the centre section,i currently have an H & S back box,or is it best to do it all.
What extra HP would one get from all or just centre.
Regards

For Full power benefit mate then you are best to do a full Decat - the centre pipe decat will help but the BIG most restrictive Cat is in the Down Pipe and this is the one that makes the most difference

Decat Centre cat - 5-10BHP

Decat D/Pipe Cat - 10-15BHP

Full Decat can give in the region of 20-30BHP extra (depending on car and supporting Mods) . Apart from the power you also get a hike in Torque and throttle response etc. Oh yea and the noise level of the car will change dramatically too

As long as you leave one cat on, are you more likely to pass the emissions test?

hi guy's i've got an my98 uk turbo,i have just
done a full de cat on my car from the turbo back,
i already had a ninja back box from scoobyworld,
which sounded good,since i've done the de-cat
with ninja down pipe and centre section with,
silencer, its louder but not to loud, you can hear
the turbo spool up and the scooby burble is much
more prominent.the top heat shield is pain to put
back on as the down pipe is wider, and needs
to be cut and re shaped, its well worth the hassle
though. flopsy. 8)

Hang on a sec ? Does that also work on the most recent cars ?

When my Merc's cat went wrong, they told me taking a cat off the car would change the emissions and the car's electronics would jam into "safe mode".

Is Subaru as "environment concious" with it's cars post 2003 (got a 2003 STi and wouldn't mind loosing that cork in the exhaust !)

Removing the D/Pipe will illuminate the engine check light on the dash. Any other Cat removal will not.
Having said that you can get a componant that will stop the engine check light coming on, seen one on http://www.jap-innovations.co.uk/ in the exhaust section.

I also think a remap will solve this problem as well, would need clarification of this though.
