Alarms and immobilisers

What alarm/immobiliser would you guys recommend? Obviously want something decent but would like to keep the cost down as far as possible as I also need to sort gearbox and Simtek on top. Also what would installation set me back?

Know nothing about alarms as not required for insurance over here so nobody has them, but need to start seriously looking into this as the car will be in the UK in 2 months.

Re: Alarms and immobilisers

any alarm if it has the coverage you want, interior sensors/knock sensors/proximity etc, its all down to the fitter, if they arent very good then u will have issues,

Could you fit a cheap one urself for now and get one the insurance company will recognize once your back in the UK ?

Thanks for the reply.

I need it mainly to get insurance in the UK, as well as the fact that the car is about 1000 times more likely to get nicked in Sussex than here so it won't be fitted until I return. Never had the need for one here as cars are so rarely stolen.

Re: Alarms and immobilisers

you need a thatcham category 1 Alarm immobiliser for insurance over here Wayne. I have a Cobra fitted. some people use Toad, there are other makes of course. i think they maybe about 250 supplied and fitted - as a guess.

I think mine maybe something like this, but i'd have to check my documents... http://www.dnacaraudio.co.uk/car-sec...1-alarm-a4138/

should also be a function to lock them into car and they cant get out and sends a signal to you so you can get outa bed when your car got robbed run down the 100m to your pride in joy and that will give you time to put the dope that tried to rob the car into a body bag
