i would never be this lucky!!!!

mates had a prob with his scoobs overheating anyway he`s took his wrx ra into the garage and been told its an sti engine,now i aint up on me wrx`s and sti`s though i always thought the sti`s had a red inlet manifold and his hasnt,so internally whats the difference between engines???(the prob with overheating was head gasket so hes got a couple comin and shd b ok)

The difference is mainly that the pistons are forged and the complete bottom end is better balanced.

The early RAs are not STi. I can't remember off the top of my head what year they changed to the STi engine. I do know that anything 95 and before is definitely a WRX engine.

Glad to see it's not a major problem. However, it is quite labour intensive.

reading a book on the history of the impreza,they said not all sti cars came with red top engine.lucky if that it the case m8

?? Mine (sorry, my wife's) has got a red top...

I thought there was also a difference in valves. The STi ones are filled I think with magnesium (do't shoot me if I got the metal wrong) to withstand higher temperatures.

pre '95 sti's manifold arn't red , as i have one
these were taken to sti after production

(post '95 Sti took em off the line in the factory)

ooh just noticed that was me first post lol , better say hello too

would make sense me mates is a 94 RA lucky if it is an sti :roll:
