Exclamation calling all boost gauge users

evening all
fitted buy revotec boost gauge today
very happy with it took the pipe of the drivers side manifold pipe darren same place as yours saw your pic
on question by boost gauge goes from 30hg to 0 and then to 30 psi
when i start ther car the gauge falls back to about -15 on accleration it hits 0 then the turbo kicks in it hits + 14 psi is this normal for it to go into the neg.

one last thing i know its eary days and ive said this before but its seems to have smoothed out my accleration prob any thoughts why

also took the car up to a guy to day the previous owner he thinks the car is running rich and gave me a guy number who has comptuer to look at it
any thoughts on this

cheers guys

Re: calling all boost gauge users

mine reads just short of the negative max on idle, It shows theres good vacuum (no leaks in the manifold and associated hoses)

Not really, mine sits around -10 to -12 psi at idle. Engine would be stalling if it got down to -30!

I don't see how you could tell from the guage if you have a vacuum leak as inlet vacuum varies depending on the amount of load the engine is under. Even at idle the control valve will be fine tuning it depending on engine temp, what ancillaries are switched on etc. so there isn't a magic figure you can use, even if your guage was accurate enough.

Re: calling all boost gauge users

just been out to mine, wen 1st started up its at -40. when driving normal its between this and 0 until u giv it some then goes up 2 1.3bar DSC00313.jpg
wen u let off the gas it goes to almost -60. idle when up 2 normal temp i think is about -45 ish. if you did have a bit of a leak, u'd notice it loosing boost and would prob idle rough as it'd keep trying to componsate for it.

Thats almost the same readings my Greedy guage gives me. However, sometimes mine just nudges 1.4bar in 5th gear then it fuel cuts. Any ideas what causing that? Iv serviced it and fitted iridium plugs which stoped it overboosting in the other gears but its just 5th as i say. Sorry for the hi-jack.

Check the readings on a manual fella Download PDF Subaru | PDFTown.com look up the vacuum readings it will tell you, mine reads -0.6 to -0.5 on idle if driving then and go off the power can go down to -0.8 and then on boost goes to 1.4bar now then with engine off rests at 0

This is what I get, bottom left is live on idle, top right is peak boost
