Day at scoobyclinic

Took the car in to scooby clinic today to have the decat done.

Its a bit off the beaten track if you havent been before, and doesnt look like your average dealers, but boy do they know their stuff.

The price list on the wall makes you laugh,
20 per hour
40 if you want to watch
80 if you want to help!

had the decat done and had a knocklink fitted at the same time, Adam then asked if I wanted to put my car on the rolling road
Very nervously I said yes and, well, you could almost smell my fears!
Its strange seeing your car strapped down and booted up with several grinning people around you I can tell you!
They dont bounce the rev needle on the stop (which was my main fear), just to 6000 rpm.
I was a little disappointed to see only 262 bhp after the decat even though its supposed to push out 265 as standard, the guys however were more interested in the boost spike and sudden drop off which Kev (the boss) thought might be the restricter in the boost pipe.
He then proceeded to burn his fingers and remove to find it was a .8mm, then he fitted a 1.2mm and declared a rerun but "on the house" as he wasnt happy himself and didnt want to see an unhappy customer.
This done and car back up on the RR saw 271bhp and a much smoother power curve, all were now happy.
The RR also showed what I have suspected for some time that the car is running very rich too, so a remap in the future will sort this out.

Out on the road the car was much more responsive lower down and pulled really well.
All I can add is thanks to Adam, Kev and mark for all your help, top service

Oh and I have never had chinese takeaway for lunch before!

You happy with the 271 or were you expecting more after this mod?

Sounds good Buzz - what you have said about the RR figure is kinda what I thought might happen with a Full Decat. I think you will get a substantial gain however when you go down the Remap route 300BHP should be what you can expect I reckon and just remember that overfuelling is not as bad as underfuelling

Hi guys

just goes to show that what the makers say isnt always true with regard to power outputs.

The overfuelling is very high, the probe was well soooted up when it came out the backbox.

Save me pennies for a remap, or thrash the plastic ( again)

Buzz,

271!!! Sad to hear that mate, I would have expected close to the 300 mark, as you said it was close to standard!!! Not a very good per BHP mod!!!

What fuel were you running??? Did they reset your ECU???

What de-cat did you have (make i mean)?

Re-map will sort out the power problems!!! Maybe a change of fuel!!! Maybe even a ECU reset with some deceint fuel in the tank!!! 300 should be easy for your car!!!
