WRX exhaust system

Hi

Can anyone help me out with a thing that is bugging me, i bought a second hand magnex exhaust for my impreza it consisted of a back box centre section and then a de cat which fitted on the end of the centre section. People have said it will still pass its mot as the 03 Impreza has another Cat further on. Is This true ?, if so is there a way of taking the other cat out ? is it worth it in power gains ? and also will a replacement one made for the job let it still pass its mot ?, also if so what is it im looking for as at the mo im getting mixed up with up pipes and down pipes.

Allot of question there i know sorry folks

Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, just one or two questions there

Ok hopfully the system you bought is for the later model for a start as the hangers are different than on the classic and I beleive the pipe lengths are different too.
The wrx has 3 cats, one in the up pipe to the turbo and 2 after the turbo, your post says that the decat pipe is fitted to the end of the centre section so it may only remove what would be the 3rd cat from the manifold back.
Removal of this cat should still allow it to pass the mot ( but dont quote me on it)
The remaining cats can be removed yes, power gains would be made, but the biggest difference would be that the engine will rev much more freely and it would pull from lower down the rev range.

No cats = no mot, but there are ways (if you know what I mean)

Hope that helps

The classics had 2 cats fitted, which is what is probably being refered too.

Make wise you pays your money and takes your choice really.

They are available from most aftermarket parts suppliers, is scoobyclinic, scooby world etc.

Fitting the down pipe is a bit of a job, so thats why I payed someone else to do it, If you snap a stud off and you are on your own
