WRX replacement pads HELP!

afternoon all,

my first brake pad replacement is here and i cant seem to find replacements of the standard WRX pads?

im running on the standard ones that came with the car at the moment, yet cant seem to find any for the WRX only the STI??
all of the sites that seem to do the WRX ones are bloody american sites.
was looking for maybe ferrodo ones or something, but again ALL seem to be STI.

anyone know a place i can get some better than standard ones from? Or failing that at least some direct replacements!

thanks in advance for the help people!

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

Ferrodo or Mintex and you wont go wrong, Mintex 1144 is mildly uprated pad and 1155s are a very good pad, both are cheaper options then Ferrodo but 2500`s seem to be a well rated pad, there are other brands but its that balance between cost and disc use all the time.

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

If you search for the thread "uprate brakes" Brett posted some excellent info re brake pads and bedding them in

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

Wish i`d have stuck with 1144`s brake squeal you get with the 1155`s definately gets tedious after a while.

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

I've lots of good things about mintex pads for road use. I've got Carbotech xp8 pads all round on my car but they are bloody expensive. They squeal alot too, but i don't mind too much. They are amazing pads for road and track i will definately be sticking with them.

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

Just doesnt go down too well when generally i go out at 10pm an get bk in anytime between 12 an 2am to see my mates up town-neighbours love it,especially if i reverse out the end of our street-no matter how lightly you try an touch them squeal city-not so bad to be fair when i come back in as theyre warm.
Sick of this crap weather though so think im gonna sorn mine for a couple of month at end of feb when tax is due.

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

As you say cold n crap weather doesn't help with these cars, espeically when doing short journeys, they're lumpy as hell when cold, add cold pads to that and it can get annoying. i just changed my tyres due to being fed up of crap traction in the cold weather. I've just changed from Hankook RS2 track tyres to Vredestein Sessanta tyres and the difference is unbelievable. I reckon crap road tyres make you a better driver, - as when you get good tyres you realise how much caution you've been taking trying to control cornering and keeping traction when accelerating

Re: WRX replacement pads HELP!

i got a message back from camskill... no mintex in stock and mintex have none available for 4-6 weeks
too desperate.
i went for some black diamond ones in the end.
no idea what theyre gonna be like but they was cheap and im desperate!

i'll give opinions once ive bunged them on.

have LOTS of trouble getting them for my 06>07 WRX.
no sites ever seem to list ones for them.
after a MASSIVE research into part numbers it seems some manufacturers just havent updated their diagrams to say 01>07 and all stil say 01>05
