Zen Performance.

Hi all,

As some of you may have heard I've just returned from road trip to Berlin and back and have now reached my next service interval. I'm looking for somewhere more local to take the scoob to as I usually head up to scooby world which is a 2 hour drive.

Zen is about 40 minutes away, the web site doesn't really give much away so was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them? They say they charge 120 for a standard oils change, price sound right?

Cheers all!

Re: Zen Performance.

Guess for the folks that keep the service history up it can be awkward but ive done my own since 33,000mile cars on about 60,000 now-shame youre not local as me or brett could "possibly"get it stamped from a scooby dealer.

As is i just keep all my receipts in a folder-ya can see it gets spoilt looking through that .

Cost me £50 and polished me mate adams(mechanic) car for cambelt and front crank seal to be done(full cambelt kit-all pulleys tensioner etc not just belt change)Though cost me further £100 for crank pulley tool/£195 for belt/tensioner and pulley kit.

My motul 300v 15w50 works out about £55 i think

Genuine oil filter around £10 with sump bung washer

Gearbox/rear diff oil works out about £50 castrol syntrax/driveline

Fuel filter around £7

Plugs cost me around £25

oh an me an brett(bugeye_bob) changed me clutch fluid other week (had left that a bit long to be fair)took ages to flush old stuff through.didnt use much fluid at all to change that though.

Plug leads are magnecor kv 85`s werent cheap to buy but theyve bin on 6yrs so far an are fine.

Find scoobys cheap to run really ref the servicing costs.

Re: Zen Performance.

I phoned around today to find the best quote and scooby world turned out the cheapest at 80 quid including vat, thats for a standard oil change. To no surprise the most expensive was my nearest scooby dealer at 170 quid! Even with fuel to scooby world and back thats still 60 quid more!

I see you mentioned gearbox fluid above, not sure when it was last changed and shifting is a bit clunky at the moment so might ask them for there opinion.

Re: Zen Performance.

Should have checked on Scoobynet or 22b.com.

Paul has announced that Zen no longer offer any mechanical works, he is concentrating on mapping and his family.

Hence why i do my own using expensive oil, using a cheaper fully synthetic to change yourself youre probably looking at £40-45 inc filter/have had mates use semi synthetic`s then youre probably looking around £30 inc filter.Mine just runs well on motul.

Gear oils worth changing and does make it a better change for a while but only slightly-dont expect miracles ,will be changing mine again towards the bk end of this yr.
