Impreza questions
Hi all
I have recently moved into the countryside and am looking for something AWD for the winter. I have a 350z which is worse than useless in bad weather. I am not fussed about performance for this 2nd car, just something that is reliable, has a bit more space and enough grip to handle the winter on the small roads. I have seen 2 imprezas advertised that I might look at. I would like your opinions. When is the timiing belt due on these models and what would I need to look out for if buying? 2001 SUBARU Impreza 2.0 Sport 4WD 2003 SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 GX AWD 5dr Sportwagon Thanks in advance Pedro. |

Re: Impreza questions
Hello fella..
either of those 2 Scoob's look fine,Cam belts should have been done around the 60k region, not really alot to look out for on the non turbo models, there is a buying guide/check list round here somewhere.. ![]()

Re: Impreza questions
amazing what you can pick up now for less than £2000. i've been looking at getting a turbocharger that costs nearly as much as that 2001 sport. I need to do a reality check.
Good luck luck Pedro, if it makes any difference the 2001 model rear seats fold down giving you access to the boot so long objects can be loaded into the car easily. They make good work horses as well as rally cars :-)

Re: Impreza questions
The GX is a fab car for day to day driving, will put a bit of a smile on ur face too not a seat pining thrill ride but does move, can be a little heavy on fuel but whatever 4x4 you get will do that as ur carrying the running gear around,
The sports are starting to look dated now(sorry classic owners) but the interior in the GX is a good 10 years better in design when you start and look and the noise is well insulated in the GX also, In a Impreza turbo you dont mind as it adds to the Rally feel but if your after a day to day car you dont want the droan of the 4x4 system imho |

Re: Impreza questions
Hi again,
Bought a tidy 52 plate black GX wagon with full subaru service history and 50k miles on clock. Car drives very well, no issues noted on the 100 mile drive today. Only thing that irritates me is the loud beep when you lock/unlock car. The key does not unlock car, it is an additional subaru key fob. How can I dissable the beeping noise? Thanks Also, the car is a bit understeery as I expected, though I suspect part of this is to do with the economy tyres which are due to be replaced withing the next few thousand miles. What would anyone suggest replacing these with? I have Falkens on my 350z which are great, but not sure what would go well with the GX. Thanks in advance, Pedro. |

Re: Impreza questions
iirc,it should be a sigma alarm on your model,a keypad should be in the glovebox, there is a sequench of numbers to punch to turn off or turn down the entry/exit bleeps, got a feeling you need to key in the 4 digit pin before you can continue..
guide :- Sigma M30 alarm system.
