Hydraulic tappets

Hi all new to this forum. seems really helpful . Genuine scooby enthusiasts..

My problem is tappets. Just fitted an STI lump and the hydraulic tappets have seized??? never heard of it before. They was keeping valves open so zero compression. My obvious thought was head gasket or head but NO it was tappets holding valves open??? go figure??? My problem is i want to fit a NEW set and cant find anywhere to buy em. At the mo got the old one out of my 96 157000mile uk open deck. works ok but would rather put some new one in. Anybody got a new set for sale or any idea where i can get them at a realistic price.. Thx Gav

Re: Hydraulic tappets

no mate afaik just hollow valves.. same hydraulics. its a JDM StI lump i just fitted. closed deck. unless someone fitted wrx/uk heads to an sti closed deck lump ??? i got it a closed deck lump cheap, heads were on it obviously. Had problems when first installing it ZERO compression on right bank turned out to be hydraulic tappets seized fully open holding valves open...cant be on shims or solid lifters???
changed tappets from my uk with bottom end gone and all OK!!!
ALL A BIG LEARNING CURVE so please educate me if im wrong
