Oh OK, was always under the impression Subaru UK wuoldn't import parts as a matter of course. Will they also get parts for classics? I ask because the guys at Type-ra site are always bringing up the difficulty of getting parts there because Subaru UK won't deal with imports in any way, shape or form and absolutely will not get parts for you. If I can get parts through Subaru UK that will make my life a lot easier than having to order new parts from Japan. |

Re: 2005 Blobeye STi vs 2006 Hawkeye STi
I have owned my 06STi (type uk) for 3 1/2 years now (bought it new - can't believe i paid £27k for it after seeing the depreciation - but at 25 years old I was young and foolish!)
I have to say though it has been a fantastic car. I have driven friends 05 sti and have to say the 06sti 2.5L is a much smoother drive, deceivingly quick and torque available at much lower revs. For tuning, check out andyforrestperformance.co.uk - his experience shows that pretty much anything over 400bhp on 06 sti you should be looking at forged piston upgrade. over about 400bhp on 05sti your looking at forged pistons, uprated steel rods & uprated clutch. plus the 06 is a much "nicer" looking car. do the right thing...... and buy an evo

Re: 2005 Blobeye STi vs 2006 Hawkeye STi
The couple of things im most concerned about is the lower RPM. I quite like a revvy engine.
When you tune a 2.5 does the power band rise at all? Also that bloody TAX is a concern lol Also on a side note. If tends to be better for fuel economy? Can you drive the 2.0 off boost easier and hence save a bit of fuel I will be using it as a DD too see. Cheers |

tax is not high. i think mine is only £225 for the year.
wasn't it for cars new just after march 2006 that it went up ?

to muddy the waters even more, I have an 04 sti and its £215 a year to tax..bog standard, no mods 20700 on the clock, still quick enough,so no matter what you decide, they will still be a giggle to drive
