suggestions on next stage of tuning please

Firstly my car
Uk wagon 1998 (engine that cant be mapped without aftermarket ecu)

standard apart from ......
Blitz Power ML induction kit
Colling dump valve
Stainless exhaust removing second cat ( still got first cat on)

obviously decat front pipe will make a big difference open mouthed bell one i think is best (please correct me if am wrong)

This is my next mod but after that am kinda stuck as to what to go for, i know without an ecu i wont get hardly any difference anyway but id like to get a few things done befor ecu so when its mapped for the first time i dont have to have it done again for a while, (i dont want to be paying for maps all time everytime i change summat) id rather do a few things first have ecu done and all mapped in together, just want advice on what to do first etc

Im a mechanic by trade and do have some experience with imprezas owning and maintaining two of my own, i do drive it quite hard but its well serviced and looked after too, always left to running befor switching off etc and not always on the limiter, am currently using castrol edge sport 10w60 oil in it and seems to be running really well.

what plugs does most people use as well, i was gonna go for ngk iridiums

any replies are welcome as is any advice

Re: suggestions on next stage of tuning please

Well, as you say a remap really is the next step so in terms of mods I would be looking as getting the engine ready and safe for the map. Would consider at the very least;

- uprated fuel pump
- uprated injectors ( STi ones will be fine)
- uprated oil pump
- consider a full de-cat or a 100 cel sports cat
- ECU, and SimTek seem to be the ECU of choice at the moment as can run dual
maps and allow you to run MAF-less

Also take a look at this threads by Dean (username Nobby248) as he is getting a remap this weekend i think and has done all the above plus uprated turbo (VF28 i think) and various other bits and bobs. The following thread shows what he has done, though some of the stuff is the result of an engine re-build.

ENGINE INTERNALS

Makes no difference to performance whatsoever, just looks prettier. Save yourself some cash and paint your stock one yourself.
