AFAIK there are 2 methods Steve - the guy who did my decals used a heat gun but Olly said that hot water also works

The thing is when the S came off on mine it took a small chip of paint with it Not the end of the world cos the decal covers it and I have a marker that will give me an idea if I should need to put the lettering back on

Just be careful mate thats all - according to the guy that did mine, some comes off very easily some doesn't - mine unfortunately was one of those that didn't

Well Olly said the hot water works - not sure about the Boiling bit ??

I personally would go with the Heat gun/hair dryer and take your time - gently gently, treat the lettering like you treat your woman Steve

or a blow torch

Instructions on how to remove S U B A R U lettering

Firstly beg borrow or steal a Industrial Blow Torch

Next park Scooby in an area that has no flammable objects within a mile radius.

Flick on gas supply to torch and hold match to ignite.

Turn off torch and go and dip your 'on fire' arm in the bucket of water

Try again

With torch lit point it in the general direction of the rear end of the scooby.

Now watch as silver lettering melts and drops off of boot taking with it the 3 layers of silver paint. Turn off torch stand back and admire your handywork

Dental Floss is the answer, then remove any gunk with meths ( if you haven't drunk it all by then, well you will need to be sedated to have it done!)

Got my rear SUBARU letters off this PM.... used super strong dental floss (oral B super floss)..... and Lynettes hair dryer ... worked a treat.... then residue sprayed with wd40 left to soak... then used edge of my credit card to get the rest off... No marks and only took 30 Mins
