Impreza Recall
Had a recall notice delivered today from Subaru Japan.
Although my japanese is not too good I can work out that the recall relates to some bugeye and all blobeye Impreza Turbos. Strangely the notice does not give dates of manufacture for the cars affected. My car is a 2003 STi and it names this model specifically, but also other models are mentioned and also some Foresters. The problem is apparently a fault with an oil control valve which will potentially cause a fire   Has this recall happened in the UK? If not, does it only apply to JDM scoobs?? It's booked in this afternoon, job will take 30 mins I am told. Anyone else had a recall notice ??? Cool. |

Hi Gareth/Peter,
I'm very well thanks both, overworked and under paid, but apart from that I'm fine ![]() How are you two fine fella's?? Just got back from the Subaru dealer in Tawada. They fixed whatever it was that needed fixing :? :? There was also a Bugeye STi being done for the same thing. Am now seriously thinking of buying a new WRX STi spec C WR-Limited 2004. Had one in the dealers and I fell in love with it straight away, gorgeous. Should I do it or not?????? Mmmmmmmmm....Tempting. Cool. |

OK guys,
I'm giving it some serious consideration ![]() Gareth, I think your right about the spoiler, I like the high job too. Thing is they only do the small one on this limited spec C. I like the spec C, have test driven one before. The thing on the roof is a flip up vent, rally style.... Nice :!: Cool. |

Some more info on the Re-call subject care of AJBasebloke (Scoobynet).
Announced Sept 15. http://www.fhi.co.jp/recall/data/04-09_15_2.html Cars: GDA-002031 ~ GDA-012744 Build dates: July 13 2000 ~ Jan 22 2003 GDB-002015 ~ GDB-019152 Build dates: Sept 12 2000 ~ Feb 21 2003 GGA-002022 ~ GGA-009518 Build dates: June 28 2000 ~ Jan 21 2003 GGB-002008 ~ GGB-003351 Build dates: Sept 12 2000 ~ Sept 25 2002 SG5-002008 ~ SG5-035644 Build dates: Jan 25 2002 ~ Feb 6 2003 Sounds like the bolts were not torqued sufficiently. 9 reported incidents, 5 fires Problem comes about under high load/high RPM. The pic above should give y'all a good indication of where to look to see if your car is suffering this issue. It applies to SG Foresters, too, so esp. if you have a grey import, you may wanna go have a quick squiz. HTH |

Yes, your right Gareth.
Also I don't suppose Subaru UK will be bothered about trying to find and fix imports. Although morally I think they should. If anyone has an import best get it checked. Doesn't sound too nice having a fire start while driving hard    |
