Japanese Imports

Thinking of buying a japanese import impreza but just want to check up a couple of things.

Are they left or right hand drive? or does it just depend on yer luck?

Also from what i have seen on pistonheads and autotrader, most of the import STi 92-99 models are running about 330bhp, is this standard for the imports and what kind of 0-60 and top speed would you get out of this?

Hi,

All japanese imports a RHD, most of the 92-99 STi models are running at 280 bhp. 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 158.

Re: Japanese Imports

Standard Power;

V1 STi = 250 Bhp
V2 STi = 275 Bhp
V3-6 = 280 Bhp

Slight torque increases year on year until V5 & 6 which had identical figures.

0-60 times vary too but expect late 4 seconds for a standard STi and around 4.5 'ish for a Type RA.

Re: Japanese Imports

to get 330 would require decat, pannel filter, injectros, turbo and a remap, also possibly a fuel pressure reg.

to get the best out of it would prob alsop need to add a front mount intercooler, induction kit plus that standard ecu isn't mappable so your looking at an aftermarket ecu

Plenty of people are running that kind of power (and a lot more) on a top mount so a change isn't a must, though I do agree that ultimately it is the way to go.

Also fairly certain the later JDM cars are mappable, Certainly the V5 & 6 afaik.

Quite right Tidgy, didn't see the V3 bit. I'll let you have that.
