![]() Tracker is a device thats installed by profesionals (certified) and hidden within the car.. It uses GPS (Global Positioning System) to frequently pulse a signal back to base (RAC, Traker etc).. Most are wired into the system and immob~s... If the car is started without immobilising proberly the alram will ring back at HQ to say your car has gone... They will ring you (any time :P ) asking should your car be moving? Another tracker device may not be so advanced and ONLY track when alerted... this is when you notice your car has gone and YOU phone them to ask where it is ![]() The better trackers are something like Tracker and RAC Trackstar - both around the £400 mark with £50 to £100 fitting... Once installed you just wait for your car to be nicked  Youll never know its there until then  Well apart from the annual bill of between £70 and £110 I hope that helps a little? |

DONT get the lowest tracker !
its not approved by alot of insurance companies. Get the monitor 24, I have that one. Cost £150 for installation and £100 Yr to cover you. You could lower that by buying more years from them. They are crap at the admin tho, I bet you ahve to ring them to set it up ![]() |

Hi.
Had my tracker fitted by CVC when I first purchased my car.. It got me the best insurance quote by miles from Tesco online insurance £540. www.tesco.co.uk. ![]() The down side is it cost £400 fitted including 1years subsciption. It works realy well, I moved my car a few feet without the ignition key in... they rang me within a few mins and asked me some security questions, and I confirmed the car was only moved a few feet to clean it!. It was very comforting to think my pride and joy has a big brother watching over it ![]() Excellent recomended ![]() |

I have an o3 wrx and trackers are not fitted as standard on this car and as far as I know new 04 wrx do not have them as standard, They are standard on the STI 03 onwards and this is a RAC Trackstar.
I had to have a tracker fitted to get insce on the wrx and i had a Tracker horizon fitted. You have choice of a one off fee of around £700 (i think it was) or you pay approx £400 then an annual sum of £100. Hope this helps |

Re: TRACKER WHAT TO DO
Insurance companies and trackers are weird. I couldn't get insured on my old blob wrx without a tracker installed so paid £500 + £10 per month subscription. On my current blob sti, the insurance company didn't even ask if i had one installed, which it does! When i said to them that it has one, the woman said that it won't make any difference to the price as the their system doesn't flag it up!
